Lyon with better chance As someone else already said in this forum Lyon will have both Benzema and Juninho back for this one. They are really important for this team. Juninho with his passing and set pieces and Benzema for his runs, dribbling and shooting. It is true that Lyon were on a poor form recently considering the players they have but this is why I\'d go for Lyon on this one as they cannot keep on losing points. After the unlucky home defeat with Bayern I think they will win this one. Medium stake on this one as you must also consider the energy Lyon used in the game against Bayern where they didn\'t stop running for the whole 90 minutes and Marseille had an extra day off. Good luck all.

Transfer news and rumors

More news

This is going to be very exciting match between probably the two strongest teams in Ligue 1. If Lyon win they will make a giant step towards eighth successive Ligue 1 title, while Marseille would take over at the top with three points from Gerland. Both teams have excellent attacking potential and this will be the right time to show it.

Lyon are in poor form

After the impressive start to the season, Lyon seems to be slowing down and the timing couldn’t be worse. They took just one point from the last three league games and allowed Marseille to close the gap on just three points. Even though there is a long way to go, losing this match could severely damage their title chances. We could all see how much Juninho and Benzema mean to this team and their absence is responsible for the poor results. However, Juninho will be back after serving his suspension, while Benzema has recovered and he even played full 90 minutes on Wednesday against Bayern. These two are the most creative players in the squad and also most dangerous for the opponents. Therefore, the goals shouldn’t be a problem in this match. Claude Puel had a lot of problems with defensive area lately and they conceded three goals against Bayern. Young Gassama was particularly disappointing and he will be relegated to the bench. John Mensah is likely to fill the right-back slot, while Cris and Boumsong will occupy the central positions. Ederson did great against Bayern and he is pushing for a start against Marseille.

Marseille want to overturn Lyon

Marseille are finally in a position to overturn Lyon from the top of Ligue 1 and they will be very motivated to win this match. The team had a lot of problems this season even though they played very well but a win in this match could give them much needed boost before the future challenges. Eric Gerets’ team managed to secure the place in the UEFA Cup by finishing third in the Champions League group and that was a very good result considering the circumstances. Marseille have great attacking potential and even without injured Niang, the visitors will create a lot of problems for Lyon defenders. Kone, Ben Arfa, Valbuena and Ziani are very skillful players and very difficult to deal with. Hatem Ben Arfa will have a special motive in this match as he arrived from Lyon this summer and he will be out to show that Jean-Michel Aulas has made a big mistake by letting him join Marseille. Gerets is aware that poor defending has cost his team a lot of precious points and this area will be under a lot of pressure at Gerland. Even though defense is improving they will have a lot of problems with Benzema and Juninho among others and we don’t believe that they will manage to keep a clean sheet.

Betting verdict

Even though much is at stake in this match, we expect to see attacking approach from both coaches as this is the only way Lyon and Marseille know how to play. Both sides have outstanding attacking players and this game will be joy to watch. Therefore, our advice is to bet on over 2.5 goals.
