This is the last attempt for Marseille to try and claw their way to Champions League qualifications. Strasbourg are already relegated which is no wonder if we know that they lost the last ten matches.

Attack

Marseille had various opportunities to get hold of third place in the standings but two successive defeats at Velodrom and a draw in the last round saw them miss out on the opportunity, although they had a player in hand for over 40 minutes.Once again they proved that they can’t handle pressure. They reached the third place twice this season but stayed there only for seven days. Home defeats followed and saw them drop back on fourth.
Last week the best of them failed, Niang, Nasri and Valbuena, while Cisse's absence was obvious. It seems that he is in charge of scoring in the finish and when he is absent everything is much harder.
Gerets found the formula and managed to get the right form from the most important players but he can't solve the problems inside of their heads. Although the pressure will again be great, Marseille shouldn’t have problems since they are up against weakest rivals.

Falling apart

Until the beginning of February, Strasbourg had pretty good chances to stay in the league. But from then on disaster followed. A negative spell started and they lost 12 out of 13 matches with only 5 goals scored. The play fell apart; attack practically doesn’t exist any more and round after round it is only a matter of time how high their loss will be.
It is not the matter of whether they will lose, but how high will goal margin be. Truth is that they play without Lacour, Venteria and Cohade, who are very important for the play but that can't serve as an excuse. At the moment they even seem much weaker than Metz.

Betting Verdict

Marseille are absolute favourites. Anything but a convincing home win would be a sensation. Marseille will be thinking about the match between Nancy and Rennes but this doesn’t mean that they won’t win this match convincingly. Our suggestion is home win with a handicap.
