Hull - Watford 20:45

Hull City too have a great opportunity to qualify for the play-offs finals, for they have celebrated 2:0 at Vicarage Road stadium in Watford. Judging form what we saw in the first leg and having in mind the current form and styles of these rivals, we are in for a very uncertain match at KC stadium in Kingston.

Tigers on the road to Wembley

Hull celebrated in Watford, mostly thanks to the fact that they did better in the first half an hour. Already in the opening minutes, home side defender Danny Shittu’s goal was disallowed, due to a supposed fault over Hull keeper Myhill. Away side’s dangerous attackers Campbell and Windass have used home side slowdown, and with few swift actions they helped Tigers take the 2:0 lead (the beneficiaries were veterans Nick Barmby and Dean Windass). Watford failed to get a grip in such a situation but after halftime they started exerting pressure on Hull's net. Tigers’ keeper Boaz Myhill was the man of the game whole several excellent saves have contributed to the win. Half an hour before time Watford captain, John Eustace was sent-off due to a fault so this helped visitors to hit back with several swift counterattacks. Tigers win was tactically mature and deserved, in spite of Watford’s domination on the pitch.

In the last match they played against Watford at home (29. March), Hull players were brilliant and celebrated 3:0 in one of the best matches this season. This match will be much more difficult, although Watford are totally out of form and probably troubled by injuries and suspensions, so home side manager Phil Brown will certainly set up a careful tactics planning to draw without many goals.

Hornets totally out of form

Besides failing to materialise the domination in the match against Hull, Adrian Boothroyd’s players have significantly compromised the squad man power. They played with only one forward (Nathan Ellington) because Darius Henderson was suspended and Steven Kabbe injured. Captain John Eustace definitely won't participate in the returning leg and probably defender Dan Shitty who got injured. This is a tough situation for Boothroyd but the consoling fact is that Henderson can play.

Thus Watford marked fourth successive loss at home where they didn't score a single goal. However, even besides all that, caution in this game is necessary, because Watford are the best visitors in the Championship (10 wins, 9 draws in the total of 23 matches). A truly respectable fact.

Betting verdict

Many things here depend on who will “open” the match. If Watford score in the first third of the match, anything can happen, and if Hull impose their expected slower pace with protecting their net, they can easily get the chance to punish Watford through counterattacks. Anyway, the game will be quite uncertain with the only sensible option for betting, and that would be a draw but with small stake.
