Finals in Manchester

We will see two completely different approaches. Russians play offensive football, while the Scottish wait on their side of the pitch and try to make a counterattack through long passes and reach the opposite net. If this doesn’t work, they have done well with penalties, so far.

Home side Rangers

Glasgow is only 350 km away from Manchester and clearly the Scottish will have greater support from the stands. This will be very helpful since you should know that Rangers haven’t conceded a single goal in front of their fans in UEFA Cup.
Technically they are far behind the Russians, but they will try to compensate for that with running and fighting for each ball. They don’t play attractive football so we shouldn’t expect actions and many passes from them. They managed to reach UEFA Cup finals but they also play great in domestic championship and they are very close to the title. This season is certainly one of the better ones lately and they wish to take the European trophy in the neighborhood. It won’t be easy at all since their rivals will be the team that have over the last few rounds showed that they absolutely deserve to be in the finals.

Getting better as the competition goes by

New Russian champion have struggled a lot to get to group stage. They were free in the last round and AZ were supposed to win Everton who have qualified before that, In order to leapfrog the Russians on the standings. Everton did a favour to Zenit and led them to the round of 16. They have made it through the first two eliminating rounds thanks to away goals. But while the battles were fought inside the group, they were fighting for the title in Russia. After having done it with success, they had time to rest in Russian championship but not in UEFA Cup. They barely moved on after matches against Villarreal and Marseille, thanks to away goals. But when they gathered pace, better play followed and excellent results. They easily beat two German sides and absolutely deserved, though it was a surprise, to get to the finals where they are considered favourites.

So far they have showed much better play than Rangers. Still, Rangers have shown that they can handle any rival and that they didn’t come to Manchester by coincidence. Will former Rangers boss, Advocaat win with his offensive approach or will the Scottish succeed in defending and get the title?
