Cardiff vs Ipswich goals and highlights

We think that you should back Cardiff City at home even against stronger teams than Ipswich Town. They are one of the best and definitely one of the most offensive and most dangerous teams in the league. In spite of the poor run, Welsh side are the favourites and you might want to consider betting on goals here...

Bluebirds ready to bounce-back

Cardiff City have injury problems and that is probably the main reason for their poor results in the last three rounds. They picked up only one point in the process and it is not enough for Bluebirds' champions ambitions. Barnsley beat them with a stoppage-time goal; right back Kevin McNaughton renewed his injury, while strikers Jay Bothroyd and Kelvin Etuhu, as well as defenders Anthony Gerrard and Adam Mathews are not yet fully fit.

Winger Stephen McPhail is also out and he won't be coming back till January. Manager Dave Jones has big problems but the home ground and the poor form of the rivals, as well as Bothroyd's return will probably result in a home win. Odds on Cardiff to win are 1.73 at BoyleSports.

Low improvement for Tractor Boys

Ipswich have gone six straight rounds without losing but that wasn’t enough for manager Roy Keane's men to move away from the relegation zone. Only one win in the first 17 rounds was more than enough of a reason to sack the popular Irish boss, but the management still relies on him and he is not giving up. The team rarely lose but they don't win often either and having in mind that the hosts are a quality squad it is clear that their negative run won't end here.

Considering the fact that Tractor Boys have problems in the back line (Alex Bruce is injured) it seems that they are in for a hard time against offensive-minded Cardiff that must charge at the visitors’ net after the embarrassing last few rounds. Bothroyd is back in the team eager to score some goals so we expect him to shake Cardiff’s net at least once. Odds for Bothroyd to score are 2.75 at Bet365.

Betting verdict

Even though home win is expected here, we think that over 2.5 goals would be a better choice. Ever offensive hosts and acute problems in Ipswich's defense guarantee a good game in Cardiff and a lot of goals on both sides. William Hill offer 1.95 for over 2.5 goals.
