England - Premier League: Fulham vs Bolton Fulham returned to winning ways by beating Blackburn 3:0 in midweek, while Bolton lost at home to Rovers last weekend. The Cottagers are hot favourites in this match as they are usually very impressive at Craven Cottage, while the Trotters are struggling both home and away.
Roy Hodgson set to sign a new deal
The poor start of the season is now a thing of the past since Fulham have returned to the top part of the table thanks to some impressive performances lately. The Cottagers rediscovered the form that had served them so well last season and they are again a tough team to beat. Chelsea and Arsenal are the only teams that escaped Craven Cottage without a defeat this season, thus Bolton really don’t have much to hope for. The Cottagers scored no less than eight goals in their last three home games, thus we see a good value in backing Fulham to score over 1.5 goals at odds of 2.00 offered by Boylesports.
Roy Hodgson decided not to risk either Danny Murphy or Andy Johnson for the Blackburn game but the pair is likely to be in contention for this match. We are yet to see if they will start but the fans will be happy to see them in action even for a couple of minutes. Bobby Zamora will probably miss the game after picking up a groin strain on Wednesday, but that shouldn’t be a problem since both Erik Nevland and Clint Dempsey have been in very good form lately. The American forward is leading the scoring charts with 5 goals in 13 league games and you should really consider backing Dempsey to score at 3.40 offered by Paddy Power.
It’s high time Gary Megson was sacked
Bolton are sitting in the relegation zone after 13 rounds and this is by no means a surprise. The Trotters are very disappointing their season and while their results were always better than the performances, that is no longer the case. Gary Megson’s side suffered four heavy defeats in quick succession and alarm bells are on. The boss is counting his last days at the club with Walter Zenga being lined up as a possible replacement and this could be his last game at Bolton. With the players in such poor spirits, we cannot expect the team that score just one goal in last four games to break Fulham’s rock-solid defence, thus we see a good value in backing Bolton not to score at 2.65 offered by Betfair.
Megson has recently found out that Sean Davis will not play again this season and that is a big blow for the Trotters. His absence from the first team is one of the reasons for team’s poor performances and he will definitely be sorely missed. On the other hand, Tamir Cohen, Ricardo Gardner and Jlloyd Samuel should be in contention despite carrying small knocks but they have done a little training over the last week and we doubt they will make any difference in this match.
Betting verdict
Fulham have rediscovered their form and they are playing great football at the moment. Teams like Liverpool, Blackburn and Hull have already fallen at Craven Cottage this term and we don’t see how struggling Bolton can get something from this game.
