Jaro managed to bring one point from the away game against leaders Haka and they will now host another title contender, Helsinki. HJK beat VPS away even though they were two goals down on two occasions, and they now face another difficult away game.
Jaro impressed against Haka
After finishing 9th last season, the squad suffered big changes during the winter as several very important players left the club, but Jaro managed to bring decent replacements and they are doing extremely well this season. They picked up 19 points from 12 rounds and are now just five points adrift of leaders Haka and Helsinki. If they continue with great performances, European qualification would become a realistic possibility. Jaro had a very difficult job in the last round as they played leaders Haka away, but they dominated the large periods of the game and were unlucky not to take all three points. The team showed they were in great form and Helsinki have every reason to fear this match. Jaro are very convincing at their Centralplan Stadium and they are yet to lose a home game this season. The hosts are on a four-match unbeaten run and they will be looking to extend it when they host HJK. Midfielder Sebastian Mannstrom had a great game against Haka and he is expected to prove his quality in this match as well. Boss Laurkainen is still without Aho and Sara through injuries, but these are not normally considered first team regulars, which means that he will be able to field a full strength side.
Helsinki chasing first title after five years
Helsinki have been one of the top teams in Finnish Veikkausliiga for quite a while and they enter every single season with title ambitions. However, they haven’t had any success after winning back to back titles in 2002 and 2003, but they are determined to come good this season. Several important players did leave the club this winter but HJK managed to bring decent replacements and they have a very strong team. However, it seems that coach Antti Muurinen doesn’t know how to control so many star players and this is why Helsinki are far from impressive this season. They are currently tied at the top with Haka, but at the same time they are just five points clear of Jaro. Helsinki largely struggled in the last match against VPS but they managed to win the game 4:3 after coming from two goals behind. Nevertheless, VPS were forced to play without the first choice keeper and we cannot help but wonder if that was the reason why HJK scored so many goals. The team have been far from impressive in away games and we don’t think they’ll be able to take all three points from this match.
Betting verdict
Jaro are in impressive form and they have already outplayed one of the title contenders. They are very strong at home and we are positive they will record a positive result. Helsinki are struggling lately and they will miss two first team regulars, Sauso and Haapala, and double chance on the hosts is definitely worth a shot.
