Sandefjord managed to take one point from away game against Stromsgodset and they thus stayed at a safe distance from the relegation zone. Odd Grenland failed to beat Viking but they are still occupying very high 3rd place.
Sandefjord escaped defeat at Stromsgodset
Sandefjord returned to Norwegian Tippeligaen this season after finishing second in Adeccoligaen and they started the season well. However, the team are in very poor form lately, having failed to win any of the last nine games and they have thus slipped in the dangerous zone. The team were completely outplayed by Stromsgodset last weekend and they were very lucky to escape with one point. Keeper Espen Bugge Petersen had an excellent game and he saved his team from the defeat. Even though Sandefjord are now in 9th place, they are just four points clear of relegation zone and they will have to try and win this match. Sandefjord are not such a bad team as the latest results suggest, but they had a very difficult fixture list and we expect them to end the poor run very soon. They will have Erik Mjelde and Martin Jensen back from suspension and that will be a big boost for the team. The hosts play attacking football at their Komplett.no Arena and we are likely to see a very open game against Odd Grenland, since both teams will be searching for all three points.
Odd Grenland couldn’t beat Viking
Odd Grenland are doing remarkably well this season even though they had been predicted difficult relegation fight. The team are currently occupying third place in the standings having won 26 points from 16 games but they have only great home form to thank to for the excellent league position. Viking were only the second team that took one point from Skagerak Arena this season, since Odd Grenland took 20 points from 8 home games. On the other hand, they brought just 6 points from the travels and that is a very disappointing record. Odd Grenland couldn’t beat Viking at home last weekend even though they had taken the lead, but they ended up saving one point after Viking overturned the deficit. The dreadful away record doesn’t give them much to hope for in the match against Sandefjord but they will try to defy the odds and record first away win of the season. Boss Dag Eliev Fagermo should have full squad to choose from as Alex Valencia is expected to recover from injury.
Betting verdict
Sandefjord will attack the visitors from the start because they desperately need a win to escape from the dangerous zone. Odd Grenland are awful in away games but they, too, will try to record the first away win of the season. Even though the hosts are slight favourites, over 2.5 goals looks like a safer bet.
