Blackburn vs WBA goals and highlights

Blackburn have already ensured survival and they will not be too downhearted by the defeat at Stamford Bridge. West Bromwich, on the other hand, missed the last chance to boost their survival hopes and they will get relegated regardless of the outcome of this match.

Rovers did just about enough

This has been one of the most difficult Premiership campaigns for Rovers as they spend the big part of the season in the dangerous zone. The team changed two managers and had plenty of problems with injured players, which is probably the biggest reason for the poor league position. Key players, Dunn, Emerton, Reid, Santa Cruz and Grella missed plenty of games this season because of injuries and Sam Allardyce faced a selection headache in every single match. Players like Pedersen, McCarthy and Villanueva struggled to find their best form and in that situation, relegation dogfight was a reality. Blackburn managed to ensure survival mainly thanks to the very good home record and the players will be under no pressure in this final game. Sam Allardyce wants his team to end the season with a win, although he is more concentrated on reinforcing the squad at the moment. Roque Santa Cruz will definitely leave the club, while Ooijer and Villanueva are also leaving at the end of the season, which leaves Big Sam a big gap to fill. Rovers will probably attack WBA from the very start as they have no reason to be cautious and we are likely to see a very exciting match at Ewood Park.

West Brom are going down

West Bromwich seems to have no problems getting promoted to the Premier League but they do have problems staying up. Once again, the Baggies will get relegated after spending just one season in the top tier but at least they can be encouraged with the performances this season. The applause Tony Mowbray received after the Liverpool defeat, when it was clear that the team are getting relegated, speaks volumes. The boss managed to build a very good team and an excellent atmosphere and if they had had just a bit more luck, they would have ensured survival. However, the numerous defensive mistakes and wastefulness in front of goal has cost them precious points and that is the main reason why they will get relegated. The team played really good in most of the games and they had no problems creating chances and even Jamie Carragher admitted to having a very difficult time last weekend at the Hawthorns. Everybody at the club remain upbeat in spite of the big disappointment and boss Tony Mowbray is determined to take his team to the Premier League for the second time. The club will not have to sell the best players, which makes them early favourites for promotion next season. The Baggies will be eager to prove that they had the quality to play at the highest level and they will try to beat Blackburn at Ewood Park.

Betting verdict

The hosts still have got plenty of problems with injuries and Big Sam will be forced to field a much weakened line-up. West Brom have shown plenty of potential this season even though they will get relegated and maybe you should try with surprise here. Our advice is to bet on away win.
