Liverpool vs Tottenham goals and highlights

Liverpool have never been closer to the Premiership title but they will have to settle for the second place in the standings. The Reds will be eager to repay their fans for all the support this season by beating Tottenham. Spurs have still got the chance to qualify for Europe but in order to do that, they must beat Liverpool whereas Fulham must lose at home to Everton, which is highly unlikely.

Liverpool aim 86-point mark

Liverpool have shown a lot of potential this season and they have never been so close to the Premiership title. Even though they were beaten to the title by Manchester United, everybody at the club is encouraged with impressive performances this season and they believe that league title is up for grabs next term. The Reds won their fourth successive league game, having beaten relegation strugglers West Brom last weekend and they will enter this match on a high. Rafa Benitez has already started preparing the team for the new season but he wants his team to finish the season in the best possible way by beating Tottenham. That win would see Liverpool reach 86 points, which would be their record high in the Premier League. The players also want to beat Tottenham and thus repay the fans for the tremendous support throughout the season. Liverpool have been in excellent form in the last few weeks and they are definitely hot favourites in this match, even though Tottenham will also be very motivated as they need the points in order to qualify for Europe. Apart from Javier Mascherano and long-term casualty Philipp Degen, Rafa Benitez will have full squad to choose from.

Can Tottenham win at Anfield?

Considering the way Tottenham’s season has started, eighth-place finish should be considered a big success. Spurs largely struggled to escape the dangerous zone in the first part of the league campaign, but the team have made big progress under Harry Redknapp and they even came close to qualifying for Europe. Even though Spurs have been playing really well lately, their rivals for the seventh place, Fulham have played even better and the Cottagers are now hot favourites to take the last place which leads to Europa League next season. The only way how Tottenham could finish in seventh place is they beat Liverpool at Anfield while Fulham lose the home game to Everton. That is very unlikely to happen but that is maybe a blessing in disguise as Spurs will be able to fully focus on the league campaign next season. The visitors will probably try to make life difficult for Liverpool in this match but that is not going to be easy as they will miss several first team regulars. Lennon, Bent, O’Hara, Huddlestone, Woodgate, Dawson and Giovanni are all out with injuries and that will be a big problem against high-flying Reds. Tottenham will definitely not adopt a defensive approach in this match, which will only make the job easier for the hosts.

Betting verdict

Liverpool are in excellent form lately and we are positive that they will have no problems beating severely weakened Tottenham. Thus, we recommend betting on home win.
