Hull drew their last three games but they are still high in the overall standings thanks to the great start to the season. The Tigers will try to end the run of six games without a win and take all three points. Middlesbrough are incredibly inconsistent this season, which makes their games very difficult to predict.

Hull are without a win in the last six games

Hull are showing signs of slowing down after the impressive start to the season. This was bound to happen at some stage and the most important thing for Tigers at the moment is to end the poor run of results. After three straight defeats, Hull drew their last three games and they desperately need a win to boost the players’ confidence. This could be the perfect opportunity as Middlesbrough are far from unbeatable at the moment. Phil Brown’s team played Stoke last weekend and they matched the Potters physically, which helped them win one point. Brown started with King as a lone striker in that match but he may revert to 4-4-2 against Middlesbrough. In that case Cousin will return to the starting line-up, replacing Barmby. Another positive for Brown is that Bernard Mendy have successfully completed recovery minor surgery and he was on the bench against Stoke. Stelios Giannakopoulos is also reaching full fitness and he will probably play some part in this match. Left-back Andy Dawson could recover in time to face Boro, while Folan is also doubtful.

Boro still struggling

Bor still struggle to find their form and they are very inconsistent. The team won two of the last four away games but failed to win any of the last three at home, which just shows how they are playing at the moment. Their results are very difficult to predict and we strongly recommend you to keep Boro off your bet slips. After the disappointing defeat at home from Bolton, Gareth Southgate’s team drew with Newcastle in the game which could have gone either way. Southgate’s key players Downing, Alves and Sanli are far away from the desired form and that is the main reason why the results are not very good. It seems that they are playing better on the travels as the pressure is not that big as when playing at home. Eight points in the last four away games is the proof of this claim. Southgate could receive a big boost before this match as O’Neill, Shawky and Huth could recover in time to face Hull, while Riggot and Williams are still out.

Betting verdict

Both teams are expected to go for a win here and this should be an interesting game. Hull want to end the poor run and they will have a great support of the home crowd, while Boro play better in away games. Therefore, we expect an open game and recommend betting on over 2.5.
