Thus, the Boys have been eliminated from Europe and they will be looking to make amends in this match. Inverness beat Kilmarnock away last week but they do not have much to hope for at Celtic Park.

Celtic are out of Europe

Celtic continued the impressive winning run in the SPL, which now stretches to 13 games. They beat St Mirren thanks to a good second half performance and stayed four points clear of Rangers. The team traveled to Denmark to face Aalborg in high spirits, determined to end their awful away record in Europe. And when Robson scored the opening goal at the beginning of the second half, it seemed that the bad tradition is going to end. But two lucky goals in the late stage of the match helped Aalborg to win the match and eliminate Celtic from Europe. The team was heavily criticized after that defeat and rightly so as they managed to lose to an average team. Still, they are expected to make a reaction against Inverness and the visitors could be in for a heavy defeat. Gordon Strachan should have Hesselink and Hartley back after recovering from injuries, while Aiden McGeady remains injury doubt, but Italian Massimo Donati is definitely out.

Inverness are better away from home

Inverness are a very strange team as they are playing much better away from home. They won four of the seven away games on oppose to only one win at home. This is probably due to their counterattacking style of play as they are usually looking to take advantage of opponents’ mistakes and hit them on the break. Inverness scored two first half goals against Kilmarnock last week but they could have easily been denied a win had Taouil scored from the penalty spot in the dying moments of the game. Inverness will now have a very difficult job at Celtic Park but their coach Craig Brewster believes that they can get something from this match. The visitors will certainly adopt a defensive approach and try not to allow the opponent too much space but Celtic will be very motivated to make amends for the disappointing result in Denmark and Inverness will have problems to contain Celtic’s players. Apart from Phil McGuire, Brewster will have full squad to choose from.
