Coach Spalletti says that this is the beginning of the new much happier period for the club that had a truly terrible start. Lecce played fine in Genoa but they couldn't do a thing against Antonio Cassano. He practically beat them on his own and even two goals weren’t enough for Salentini to avoid losing after three successive draws. Two weeks ago they stopped Milan at Via Del mare so they have no reasons to be afraid of the visitors.

Lecce are tough at home

Mario Beretta’s team haven’t lost a single match in front of their fans and it seemed that they deserved more against Udinese and Palermo. They had the lead in both matches, they were even two goals ahead of Udinese but it wasn’t enough to win. A part of it came back to them against Milan when they were cornered during the whole match but inexperienced Esposito scored in stoppage time thus helping them take a huge point. Lecce are four points ahead of the relegation zone and they should be satisfied, especially because everyone predicted relegation for them. They are worth much more and if they keep this up they could survive in the league. Roma are not naive but Lecce are better than Bologna that drew with Romans two weeks ago. Besides, three out of four matches between these rivals ended without winners.

Roma are one of the worst visitors in the league

They are not in good company, with only one point taken against Bologna. They suffered even five defeats before that and we have truly never seen worse performance of the Roman side in the last decade. We will see if they can reach their former form but even the win over Lazio didn’t convince us that the crisis is over. We expected Roma to end up among top four at least, even the title contention was mentioned but these are all illusions. All is not lost yet, but the way they play, fourth Napoli that are 12 points ahead shouldn’t see them as serious rivals. If you saw Roma in the clashes with Inter and Juventus you will agree that the difference in the quality was obvious and that if they don’t improve their form dramatically they won’t stand a chance for the top. However, the situation with injuries stabilized, most of them have recovered and only Perrotta is suspended. If Totti were in the team it would perhaps be different but he is not ready either.

Betting Verdict

We are not yet sure if Roma are the favourites in this match and we think that the odds were decided on the vistiors’ name. Udinese, that are much better than Roma had major problems at Via Del Mare and were on the verge of losing. The ground will be tough, home side will try to compensate for the lack of quality with competitive and aggressive play. Our choice would be double chance on Lecce with a higher stake.
