Valencia have been impressive this season and they were at the top of Primera for a long time. This is the start of their UEFA Cup campaign and they want to start with a win. FC Copenhagen lost the opening match at home to Saint Etienne and they have been struggling in domestic league as well, and they do not have much to hope for at Mestalla.

Valencia was shocked by Racing

The club management decided to bring very talented manager Unai Emeri to replace Koeman and he has done a magnificent job so far. He managed to transform the team who struggled to win even their home games into the team fighting for the top of the table. However, he did embrace some of the characteristics of Dutch manager, as he is not even considering playing certain footballers. Hildebrand, Zigic, Maduro, Del Horno, Helguera and Viana are not even considered when Emeri decides on the starting line-up and even though the results are still very good, these are the players who should at least be in contention for the starting places. With David Silva injured, Emeri’s options have been significantly reduced. This may be one of the reasons for the weekend’s defeat at home from Racing and the other might be a rain-sodden pitch. The hosts struggled to dominate the game in such difficult conditions and Racing played excellent on the counterattacks and managed to score four goals. Still, Valencia is a big favourite to win this match and we would be surprised if they fail to do that.

The Danes will try to produce a surprise

FC Copenhagen had a good chance to open the UEFA Cup campaign with a win over troubled Saint Etienne two weeks ago. However, the outcome of the match was decided in the opening stages. First the visitors opened the scoring after just two minutes through Gomis and then just few moments later, FC Copenhagen was awarded a penalty for the foul on Santin. It was a great chance for the hosts to get back into the match, but Nordstrand missed the spot-kick, thus significantly decreasing his team’s chances of positive result. The Danes continued to work hard in search for the equalizer but they eventually lost the game. The slow start of the game cost the team dearly against Saint Etienne and they will make sure that doesn’t happen again. The team will be in good spirits considering that they are still fighting for the tile in Denmark, and they are just one point behind Odense and Brondby. We expect them to adopt a defensive approach and try to hit the hosts on counterattacks.

Betting verdict

Valencia is a big favourite here but the team is not in very good form. The visitors will adopt a defensive approach and it will be very difficult to break their defense. We expect to see a hard midfield battle and recommend betting on under 2.5 goals.
