Bolton will host Manchester City in the local derby looking to get some points on the board as the Trotters are now effectively in the relegation battle. They lost to Everton in the dying moments of the game and once again they failed to score. City was unlucky to lose from Middlesbrough and the Citizens will be looking to make things right by winning this derby.

Bolton is in the relegation zone

It took Gary Megson ten rounds of the Premier League to see what we have all been aware from the start of the season- that Bolton will be fighting fir survival. Maybe he didn’t want to admit this but it was evident that the team doesn’t have the quality to stay in the Premier League. The game against Everton was the sixth from the start of the Premier League that Bolton failed to score and this has been the biggest problem this season. They simply do not have the means to reach the opponents goal and that was once again evident against Everton. After the dismal first half, Bolton showed some attacking intent in the second period but the fact that right-back Steinsson was the most dangerous player in attack speaks for itself. Bolton deservedly lost the game by the last minute goal from Fellaini. Bolton’s performances have been very poor of late and despite the fact that Megson will have full squad to choose from, they have little to hope for against City.

City should have won

Manchester City had a good chance to continue the winning run as they faced Middlesbrough on Wednesday. Hughes had certain problems with injured players, but Dunne managed to recover and start the game but his usual partner in the centre of defense, Micah Richards was surprisingly played at left-back. Hughes later stated that he had wanted to reinforce the back line, which was too exposed in some of the away games. Injury doubts Jo and Evens started the game on the bench. City started brightly and had a lot of chances to score but Boro keeper Turnbull somehow managed to keep opposition strikers at bay. City continued to dominate but Middlesbrough was awarded a penalty at the beginning of the second period, which should not have stood. Alves scored from the resulting penalty and as the visitors continued to push, Gary O’Neill scored on the counter in injury time and the final result was 2:0. The team will be eager to make amends for the unlucky defeat and beat Bolton. Hughes will be able to count on Jo and Evans, while Richards will return to his original position and Garrido will start at left-back.

Betting verdict

Bolton has been terrible lately and they cannot find a way to the opponents’ goal. City played a very good game against Boro and they have tremendous amount of potential. Hughes will be able to field his strongest line-up and that should be enough for the win.
