Middlesbrough produced the first decent performance from the start of the season but that was not enough to take all three points against Blackburn. Boro improved to take a point from Blackburn

Middlesbrough managed to show some improvement in the game against Blackburn, after the disappointing start of the season, but it was not enough to take all three points. Southgate’s team started the second period brightly and managed to take the lead through Alfonso Alves, only to be denied the win by McCarthy’s injury time goal. The game against Blackburn showed some improvement but we cannot forget Middlesbrough’s games from the start of the season, where they were largely outplayed in every single game. They lost 5:0 from Chelsea at home and Manchester City has enough attacking potential to hurt them. With two regular defenders, Huth and Hoyte, still out, Southgate will hope that Julio Arca will recover in time to play, while Mido remains a doubt.

City eased to a win over Stoke

After a difficult period in the last couple of weeks, Manchester City eased to victory over Stoke and they are now very motivated to take another three points. The match was marked by Robinho’s hat-trick, as the Brazilian showed what a great asset he is to the squad. Even though their opponent wasn’t one of the better teams in the league, Mark Hughes was very pleased with overall performance and mostly by the fact that they kept a clean sheet. With so many attacking players in the starting line-up it is very difficult to achieve the right balance between the lines and Hughes is very well aware of that. He will be sweating over the fitness of strikers Jo and Evans and defender Dunne, but City has big enough squad to cope with the injured players. Manchester City returned to the top part of the table with three points against Stoke and they want to continue the climb up the table and we have no doubts they will try to win the game against Middlesbrough. City has excellent attacking potential and their players should have no problems breaking makeshift defense of the opponent.

Middlesbrough has been very poor from the start of the season and one good game cannot change the fact that they do not have the quality to compete with the best in the league. City has very strong attack and midfield area and the visitors will be able to take control of the game, and we have no doubts that City will win the match.
