The rivals await this match in completely different atmosphere. Udinese taught Spurs a lesson on Thursday in UEFA Cup and reached their first win in group stage. Udinese are at the top of Serie A, and judging by the play of some of the favourites it isn't impossible to see them make step up over the last season and repeat the success from few seasons ago when they played in the Champions League. The historical success of bianconeri was the credit of Luciano Spalletti who spent the last three seasons on Roma bench. Since he took over, his side hasn't played so week as this season. Udinese have lost only one game this season

They lost to Juventus in the weakest game of the season. However in most of other matches Udinese showed superior quality. If you remember our general preview of the season than you know that we expected that. The team has matured. They conceded only five goals without two of their best defenders. They didn’t do well in the first half in Salento, they were two goals down but they used home side’s fear and few mistakes to get hold of a point in the end. Excellent coach Marino wasn’t satisfied with the play but it's a lesson for the game against Roma. Udinese must play without oscillations for whole 90 minutes if they wish to beat the great rivals. They were complete against Tottenham, eager to win but we believe that they saved enough strength for Roma. Over the last few years they didn’t have success against these rivals but this is the first time they are starting the match as favourites.

Roma ended up losing at Stamford Bridge

They didn’t play bad but it wasn’t enough. The return of Totti means a lot but forgive us all Roma fans, we think they are limited. They fought well but that is all, we saw nothing of the attractive football and fluent passes they flaunted last year. Many people say that this is the end of an era in Roma, that Spalletti is worn out and without motivation. These are all speculations so far but if Roma don’t lift their play to a much higher level they will probably be looking for the new coach. We should mention that Spalletti doesn’t have to worry, as many clubs are dying to have him on their bench. Everyone knows that Juventus would be happy to see him replace Ranieri.

Betting Verdict

Only negative tradition is what’s stopping us from suggesting Udinese win at least on level ball. However, they have lost last five Serie A matches at Friuli to Roma which definitely means something. They didn’t have much luck at Olimpico either so we can say that these rivals' play doesn't suit them.
