This week England - Coca Cola Championship matches
|
Derby at Bramall Lane will see two promotion candidates and their eagerness for the forthcoming campaign. Home team was already well tested against Birmingham in the first round and they have passed the test even defeated. QPR are still an enigma to all of us so be carefull with this fixture.
Blades look like very serious promotion candidates
In the opening round of the season, Sheffield United faced the biggest promotion candidates, Birmingham City. Although defeated 0-1, we could easily say they have been at least even rivals to the team from St Andrews. Blades have missed several great chances by Gary Speed, Billy Sharp and Jon Stead, they didn’t allow their rivals to make some of their own. Unfortunately for them, the experienced old fox, Kevin Phillips, bagged one in the last seconds of the game.
Undeserved loss still didn’t affect manager Kevin Blackwell’s team, so the Red and Whites managed to demolish Port Vale 3-1 in Carling Cup, with the fantastic performance by Lee Hendrie reminding us on his good, old days in Aston Villa’s shirt. Top scorer, James Beattie, and right winger, Kit Gilespie, are still injuredbut Beattie is expected to recovery till the end of this month which is a lot sooner than predicted.
Rangers still need time
QPR celebrated a win in the opener, a troublesome and problematic win over Barnsley at Loftus Road (2-1). Guests had an early lead but with two goals until the half time, Rangers managed to annul the advantage. Defender Fitz Hall, who even managed to miss a penalty, was the double scorer. Despite the win, manager Ian Dowie wasn’t too pleased with his team.
There were a lot of problems against Swindon away in the Cup Game (3-2), because the home side had a lead at the interval (2-1). Still, all the things came to their place, while young Dani Parejo, loaned from Real Madrid, put on a real display and already became fans’ favorite. For this game, Akosz Buszaky (ankle) and Rowan Vine (leg fracture) are injured for this fixture, while skipper, Martin Rowlands, has another game under suspension.
Betting verdict
Derby at Bramall Lane will give us at least half of the answer to the question how QPR are really strong in the new season. The fact is they didn’t spend as much as expected in transfer window, while Sheffield might finally be on the right track towards consistent, successful performances. That is why, in this apparently uncertain game, we will give the advantage to home side who are more serious, composed and more ready at this time. Plus, it seems to us they have the better squad. Mild advantage for United with small stake.
