Russia’s representative in the Intertoto Cup won the first leg thanks to an early goal from their most dangerous player Kirichenko. After that both teams had some chances to score but Saturn kept their one goal advantage which is a massive result for them. Stuttgart is still preparing for the Bundesliga season, and they won’t be too downhearted by the result. With the return of their best players from holidays the Germans are the favourites to win this one.
Their best players are back in training
Sttutgart lost the game in Russia 1:0, and they will need to score some goals if they are to go through. The team is encouraged by the return of Lehmann, Gomez, Hitzlsperger and the new signing Boulahrouz, from holidays after their participation in the Euro. They started training on Thursday, but this game will probably come too soon for them to have any participation in the proceedings. They will however give some moral support for their teammates in order to help them win this game. Armin Veh will most likely field the same team, with possibly the only change being that Marica will start the game. The Germans will have to attack and with the attacking potential they possess, the visitors will have to work hard to prevent them to score.
Can they surprise the Germans?
The Russians have very good result going into this game, they managed to win without conceding, which bolstered their chances of reaching the qualifying round of the Uefa Cup. Saturn is in the middle of the domestic season and that fact proved vital in their victory. They are in excellent form having beaten Shinnik 4:0 in midweek. Despite their attacking force, the Russians will probably defend in this game and put all their hopes in Dmitri Kirichenko, who is probably their best player, which he showed in the first leg by scoring once and hitting the post later in the game. Their players might be tired having played a lot of games recently.

Stuttgart is far from their desired form and their best players have just started training and probably won’t be able to play in this game. The rest of the squad that will play is good enough to score against the Russians. Saturn played good football recently and they have a nice advantage. They will defend and wait for their chance to counter attack. Stuttgart has the stronger team and that will be the basis for their victory. My prediction is home win.
