This week England - Premier League matches
|
This is the match of the teams that could be in the relegation battle, come end of the season. Bolton had a very difficult season last term, and is in for another. Several creative players left the club, and only Elmander and Riga came to improve the scoring. After a narrow escape last season, many experts are predicting them return to the Championship. With Stoke City, it is the similar story. However, they have been promoted to the top division after 23 years, but face a tough survival battle as they failed to lure enough players to the club. The winner of this match will get a head start as this is a clash of relegation rivals.
Bolton is in for a difficult battle
After Sam Allardyce had left the club, Bolton has a lot of problems. The team started last season with a few defeats, and stayed near the bottom until the end. They managed to avoid relegation, but the team was playing really poor. Gary Megson took over as the manager, and improved things a little bit, but after Anelka had left the club, they couldn’t find the true goal scorer. Johan Elmander joined the club to try and compensate for Anelka’s departure, and also winger Riga is expected to improve things in attack. Muamba and Shittu are also in, while Diouf, Giannakopoulos, Teymourian and Meite all left the club. Other than McCann, who is injured, Megson can count on the full squad.
Stoke is back after 23 years
After being relegated in 1985, the club spent 23 years mostly in the second division, and finally managed to return to top flight. Stoke signed just three players this summer, and it may not be enough to avoid relegation. Dave Kitson came from Reading in a club’s record transfer, while Seyi Olofinjana arrived from Wolves. Tomas Sorensen will be number one keeper, as he joined from Aston Villa. Manager Tony Pulis decided to stick with the same group that ensured promotion. He boasts a proud record of not being relegated with his team in his 16 years managerial career. Notable players in his team include captain Andy Griffin, ex Manchester United defender Ryan Shawcross, and utility player Rory Delap. Manager Pulis has no injury worries.
Betting verdict
Bolton has boosted the ranks with some new players, but it remains to be seen if that will be enough for avoiding relegation. If Elmander, Riga and Muamba fit the team from the start, they could manage a decent result. Stoke City maybe has the weakest team in the Premiership this year, and with only three new players, we fear that they will get relegated. Bolton will need to win this game against relegation rivals, and we are sure they will succeed in their mission.
