Empoli were defeated in Calabria and the old wounds again led them to defeat. After excellent Nicolo Pozzi got injured, the club have no real attacker so they again missed their chances, which experienced Reggina punished. Cagni wasn’t too disappointed and the good news came from Torino where Del Piero's strike against Catania kept Empoli in the race. They must win Livorno, if Catania lose to Roma and Parma don't win Inter, Empoli will be saved. It would be a great personal triumph for Cagni who, regardless of the outcome, will leave the club. Livorno are playing for honour. The defeat by Torino at Picchi only confirmed what everybody knew two weeks ago. After four years spent in the elite, Amaranti are back in Serie B. In the last game we saw the fans protest because of the relegation.

Empoli lost last two games

Since Cagni came back on the bench, Toscana side, to everyone's surprise, won in Torino and Genoa, but the defeats at home by Udinese, Sampdoria and a draw against Parma complicated the situation. If only one of those three games was won they would be very close to surviving now. This way, nothing depends on them though it is realistic to expect that Roma will win Catania at Massimino. Empoli will wait for the news from Parma as well, since if Ducali win Inter, Cagni’s side will also get relegated. Livorno are relegated, they have a lot of problems in the squad and Empoli should use that.

Livorno on sale

President Spinelli announced that his club is on sale. The price is around 10 million Euros and controversial head of the club is deeply insulted by the fans. He is the one to blame for the failures. First he sold Lucarelli to Ukraine and then he spared money when they needed back-ups. Besides Tavano, other players didn't prove to be good choices, Orsi and Camolese switched on the bench so Livorno found themselves in a chaotic situation. We will see if they will transform during the summer, try to keep the basis and attempt to get back to Serie A.

Betting Verdict

There are no dilemmas, Empoli are absolute favourites and we don’t see any other outcome but a home win. Livorno will probably start the match relaxed, there are no reasons for trying, they can't make a better impression and we expect home side to reach an easy triumph. But we are yet to see if this will be enough, they must wait for the matches in Catania and Parma to end. In the first part of the season Livorno celebrated a minimum win at Picchi.
