 This is one more match that does not decide anything. Atalanta will finish the championship in the middle of the table, which is a good result because the only thing the club from Bergam wanted was to avoid fight for survival. They succeeded in it much easier than anyone expected. Atalanta was winning home games against weaker rivals, which seems to have been the most important. After loosing a home game against Lazio, Genoa has fallen on the 9th place. Boriello was on the bench, he is tired at the end of the season. We will see if he is going to play and try to win the title of the best goal-scorer. If Napoli looses in Rome, and if Genoa wins in Bergam, then Genoa goes on the 8th place which brings Intertoto. It is very hard to make any predictions. We are not sure whether any of the two teams want to go to Europe this way, because the season starts early and it usually has bad effects on the form of team.
Atalanta plays efficiently at home
Hadn’t it been for the latest matches with Juventus and Inter when they were easily defeated, Atalanta would keep the average of two points at home. Del Neri was right when he assumed that the attackers will bring survival to the team. Atalanta was playing with inspiration and efficiency, and therefore winning worse rivals who score harder when playing away. Palermo is interested for him, but it is the question if Atalanta would let him go.
Genoa plays openly even in 4-3–3 formation
Gasperini has been doing in his way as a coach so he can be careless. His team has always been entering the match willing to play, and even if they had not had success every time, they had enough qualities to remain in the middle of the table during the most part of the championship. This summer, they want to improve themselves. The problem is that Borellio is going away and that other clubs want few more of their players. This means that they will have a hard job to make new team, so president Preziosi has already announced that he won’t mind the costs for their back-up. Because of that, we can expect Genoa to give up Intertoto Cup, in order not to waste strength.
