 In spite of weak results away against Cottbus, Hamburger managed to keep the place that means automatic UEFA Cup promotion and only thanks to their rivals weak results. Karlsruher once again demonstrated that the season was over for them the moment when they secured their place in it so they suffered another defeat in front of their fans, this time against Bochum.
Martin Jol will be Hamburger new boss
Once again Hamburger showed that they are in a big crisis, since they suffered even five defeats in the last seven matches and took only four points. Gorlitz stays in Karlsruher
Before the start of this season the only aim in Karlsruher was taking 40 points, the amount they needed for staying in the league. Precisely for this reason Karlsruher players started playing great on the start, only to be able to afford few weak results in the end after achieving their aim.
Coach Becker is certainly the most responsible for placing an average second-league squad so high in Bundesliga. Not even in the last round will the coach give up his standard formation with only one forward which will most likely be Kapllani. Lonely attacker will be supported by midfielders Iashvili, Freis and the brains of the squad Hajnal, who will continue his career in Dortmund next season. Good news for Karlsruher was certainly Gorlitz’s decision not to go back to Bayern from where he came on loan, but the club will buy out his contract. Reinhard, Carnell, Kennedy, Unger and Gorlitz are injured and won’t travel to the last away game this season.

First match of these rivals ended drawn but we should mention that Karlsruher were a better side in this match and that Hamburger took a point only in stoppage time thanks to Olic. Good news for Hamburger is that Karlsruher are thinking about vacation as well as the fact that they won three out of last five games when they hosted these rivals who celebrated in Hamburg 15 years ago.
