In the last round Schalke convincingly beat one of the best hosts in the league, Bochum and three new points made them definitely a passenger to the Champions League, though there is a question of whether they will go automatically or through qualifications. In spite of playing good Frankfurt were left empty-handed in front of their fans against Wolfsburg.

After Mirko Slomka left, Schalke started marking much better results, and more importantly started playing attractive football with plenty of goals which definitely wasn’t the case under their former boss. Coach Buskens wish to say goodbye to his temporary post in the best possible way and lead Schalke automatically to the Champions League. In order to do that his side must win in this one and in the last round against Nurnberg and in the meantime Werder should lose one of the last two matches. Besides attacking trio Asamoah – Kuranyi – Altintop, the biggest threat for the opposite net will be young super-talented Rakitic who scored right after coming back in the team. Varela, Ze Roberto, Bajramović, Heppke and Tapalović are injured and won’t be able to help their side in the last home game of the season.


Frankfurt took only one point in the last six games

In the last round in spite of playing better than in the previous weeks, Frankfurt were still left empty-handed against Wolfsburg at home. Amantidis and Weissenberger have scored consolation goals.

Coach Funkel will give a chance to a Greek attacking tandem Mantzios – Amanatidis, who will be supported from the midfield by Weissenberger, Kohler and Fink. Frankfurt are left with theoretical chances for UEFA Cup spot and in order to reach it they will have to win this match and then at home against Duisburg. Injured Preus, Meier, Russ, Zimmermann, Chris, Toski and Chaftar won’t play in the last away game of the season.
