There`s a great opportunity for Stoke City to make it to the Premier League after 24 years of absence. They need only not lose to Leicester. On the other side there`s strong but very poorly placed Leicester squad. They must not lose if they wish to escape League One. This, potentially great game, could easily turn out to be a peaceful draw, suitable for home side and possibly for Foxes as well.
Potters need only one point
Potters will try to avoid the defeat at home Britannia stadium, above all. They`re known to be a tough squad, seldom losing points (especially if they get the lead first), and often play games with very few goals scored. They`re back in good shape lately, they won over Colchester away deservingly (1:0), and one point is least they can expect, if the good form continues.
Still, the pressure on squad will be intense, there are many young and inexperienced players on the team. If Hull had not scored 5 minutes from the end, Potters would have already been celebrating direct promotion. That`s why they`ll try not to take too many risks on Sunday and get the lead first, closing the way towards their goal afterwards, as they usually do.
Foxes determined not to lose
On the other side, Leicester City are one of the season`s greatest disappointments. They were capable of showing vast quality on few occasions (4:1 away win over WBA), but most of all they seemed confused and unstable, especially when they were first to concede a goal. Manager Ian Holloway failed in imposing winning mentality and quite often they looked like amateurs despite players such as Matt Oakley, Brian Howard, Iain Hume, Bruno N'Ghotty, DJ Campbell...
The1:3 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, possibly crucial one for their struggle, best illustrates their feeble performance. They were put into an early lead, but then they simply stopped, missed a penalty and allowed visitors to equalize and eventually win. Still, with 2 wins in last 3 away games and such great players on the team, they have proved to be capable of making a great result when it`s least expected.
Betting verdict
Foxes will surely put all they`ve got in attacking, at least in the first-half. They`ve got even more reason to do so since a draw would not do them any good if Southampton win over Sheffield United. Even though form and table indicate it would be an easy home win, we`re most confident it won`t be. We feel both sides might easily settle for splitting points and small number of goals.
