 Charlton utterly dropped in form after losing chances for play-off, so Coventry, still struggling for survival, got a great opportunity to get hold of at least one point at Valley stadium. Although not at their best, Sky-blues got enough quality and motivation to achieve it.
Missed season for Addicks
Charlton continue with their embarrassment in the finish of Championship, and the 0:3 defeat to Barnsley was somewhat expected. Still, it was too massive a defeat for a team of their repute and the following game is their chance to make up for it. An early goal killed Addicks` motivation, while the second, just before the interval, finished them off. The defeat became inevitable even then.
Charlton won just once in 9 attempts, were defeated as much as 6 times. Their performance became disastrous just in time when wins were most needed. Manager Alan Pardew`s squad, with great players on team and additional reinforcements in January, came from being a candidate for automatic promotion or at least play-off,at the beginning of season, to a mid-table position.
Sky-blues still in danger
Wolves fought from a goal down to deny Coventry a win that would have ensured their Championship survival (1:1). Both sides needed a win in this open and attractive game and Sky-blues took the lead. Both sides then created chances and Wolves equalized from the penalty spot eight minutes after the break. A draw, well deserved by both teams, does not do any good for neither team.
Coventry still fear because they`ll be relegated if they lose to Charlton and Leicester and Southampton both win, provided Sheffield Wednesday remain undefeated. Their form is not as good lately although it seems they play better than their results indicate.
Betting verdict
Due to Charlton`s disastrous form, it`s a great chance for Coventry not to lose this away game. One point would surely secure Sky-blues a place in the Championship, and it`s not a bit farfetched. Charlton manager Alan Pardew will give even more opportunities for younger players this time, and it`s more a reason for visitors to do well. An amount of caution is still necessary.
