This week English Championship matches
|
Duel of two already relegated rivals will serve only for both teams to see what they've got for the following season, when they`ll meet again in League One, trying to get back to the Championship as soon as possible. Due to form, table position and home ground, Scunthorpe United are absolute favorite.
Late Irons' rising
Scunthorpe won again, although their League status can by no means be recovered. Unbelievably, it was an away win over Watford (1:0), a quite deserved one as well. A pale edition of home side posed no threat for Irons` goal, and playful Hayes` goal was enough for a win.
This second consecutive win came in too late for Scunthorpe, but each point means a lot for the final placement. Manager Nigel Adkins` squad gained 45 points this season, quite enough to save them from relegation last year. The team slowly start preparing for the following season and will do everything in their power to reach 3rd consecutive win against the only team to be below them on the board.
Colchester with no chance
Colchester were defeated at their Layer Road for the last time this season. Their rivals, Stoke City, were far too strong for their current quality. Just one reckless moment was enough, during Rory Delapa`s famous kicking ball from out, for visitors` Richard Creswell to score. Colchester nearly equalized in the finish, but home side`s keeper denied Lisbi.
Colchester would probably like to forget this season, the latest series of results best show why manager Geriant Williams` side will be in League One again, after 2 seasons in Championship. United won just one in last 14 games, their defense is by far worst in the League, and they`re at the bottom quite deservingly.
Betting verdict
Playful home side strikers Hayes and Paterson will pose a great danger for visitors from Essex. Young Yorkshire squad have regained self-confidence after 2 wins and will do their best to say goodbye to their fans at small but very tough Glanford Park, by winning over the rivals, who have nothing to hope for with a disastrous defense and same form. Safe home win.
