Italian Cup: Inter vs Lazio Inter are getting closer to the title; it seems that the crisis is history and the victory over Fiorentina was the bets game in the last three moths. Vieira was once again brilliant being, like last week in Bergamo, the key figure in the triumph. If it weren’t for keeper Frey, home side could have solved the game already in the first half; this way neroazzurri fans trembled for an hour before Cambiasso and young Balotelli sealed the deal. Lazio drew at home with Siena; the match bore no significance result wise since Romans will end the season in the midtable. That is why Delio Rossi rested the whole team; Coppa Italia is their only chance for biancoceleste to find their way to Europe. A win over Fiorentina in the quarterfinals showed that Lazio take this competition very seriously.
Inter beat Romans easily
A true fight was seen in the first half an hour. After a make believe penalty home side opened the score and everything was soon over after that. But Lazio were exhausted back then from the Champions League. The situation is different now: Romans have much more confidence and Inter can fully concentrate on the Cup since they will have a tough away game on Sunday in Torino. Mancini’s side will have several serious tests till the end of the season; a city derby against Milan, for example, and in the last round they will cross swords with Parma. Still, it is hard to believe that Inter will drop the title, although you never know with them. They handled the crisis and expect the finish with optimism.
Lazio have a problem with the keepers
This is no secret, for they haven’t signed Carizzo from River Plate after Peruzzi withdrew. They were left with middle-aged Ballotta, the oldest active player in Serie A and they signed Musler who doesn’t have the quality for Italian elite. Mentioned keeper is directly to blame for Siena’s equaliser on Sunday when Lazio lost points in the finish. Although, as we mentioned, Rossi rested the starters, reserves played well an earned the triumph that slipped away. In the last nine matches Laziali lost only in Florence, recently at Olimpico they were better than Inter but bad luck and attackers imprecision cost them a victory. The final score was 1:1; home side had several shots at the target which forced several excellent saves from Julio Cesar.
Betting Verdict
This match still means more to Lazio, since Inter are focused on Serie A, but nonetheless they are the favourites in this match. Mancini will rest some of the players; the odds for a home win are too low. So we will try betting on goals. Delio Rossi is aware of the fact that unless his side score at Meazza they can hardly count on positive result. We are yet to see the final line-ups; Ibrahimovic won’t play for Inter, so probably Crespo and Suazo will get the chance. Over 2.5 goals is our recommendation since we believe that both sides can score.
Team news : Balotelli, Cruz and Pelle are suspended for Inter. Cordoba, Dacourt, Samuel and Ibrahimovic are injured. Mancini will try with Crespo and Suazo upfront and Figo is back. Toldo will be keepe instead of Julio Cruz. Lazio will be in best possible line up, Rossi rested regulars vs Siena as Coppa is last chance for his team to get European ticket. Only Del Nero, Firmani and Mudingayi wont play but they are out for longer period.
