Spain Cup: Barcelona vs ValenciaIn the last round Barcelona ran over Levante 5:1. Prior to that game they managed to mark an important Champions League win over Celtic in Scotland and now they will try to end the series of six winless matches at home against Valencia.
Barcelona waking up…
After a very important win at Celtic Park, the greatest Catalonian club again play as they are expected to. The team outmatched Levante in the last round and attacking duo Messi – Etoo managed to score four goals. They are the only team from Primera competing for both trophies (Primera and Copa Del Rey) and after Real’s failure against Getafe they have additional motivation to give their best and so try to reach the first place on the standings. This Wednesday they play a semifinal match of Copa Del Rey, hosting Valencia at Camp Nou. Since season 2001/02 Rijkaard's side haven’t managed to win Los Ches at home but since Valencia are still in a crisis this could be a great chance to end the negative streak and gain the fine lead before the rematch. Henry, Deco and Marquez won’t be in the team while Zambrotta could be in the role of right winger if he recovers till Wednesday.
Valencia rely on the tradition
Valencia are still struggling. In the last round of Primera they couldn’t beta Recreativo and the Serbian attacker Zigic missed a lot in this match. They are ninth at the moment and they will have a hard time till the end of the season intending to reach UEFA Cup zone. That is why Copa Del Rey is the chance for the team from Mestalla to reach Europe. After eliminating Atletico Madrid they are about to play against the toughest rivals Barcelona. Although they managed to handle them for a long time, they were already defeated once this season and the question is if they can make a sensation and avoid defeat. Villa and Helguera won’t be able to play which will be a great handicap for Los Ches.
Betting Verdict
Valencia are not yet out of crisis and they are no longer a team that can give a hard time to Barcelona at Camp Nou. Barca are the favourites in this match, but since Valencia played very good in the cup we are not completely sure that home side could win this match. The nets were never calm in the precious seasons. Players form both sides signed the scoresheet and since Barca improved their play and play quite offensive we recommend betting on over 2.5 goals.
