This week DFB Liga Pokal matches
|
The only quarterfinal match played between two Bundesliga teams certainly draws most attention.
The Wolves lost first points in the second part
In the last round Wolfsburg drew goalless with Hertha in front of their fans and this was their first game where they didn’t take three points.
Coach Magath considers that this is one of the key matches for his side this season. If they manage to handle Hamburger that are in excellent form, the wolves would get a chance to fight for the Cup finals and therefore UEFA Cup next season. Precisely for this reason Wolfsburg will head towards the opposite net so don't be surprised if you see Magath field a very offensive line-up. Besides Grafite that is in excellent form, former Hamburger man, Danijel Ljuboja will also get the chance in the attack. The Wolves see their chance in the fact that the rivals are tired since they played in four games in a fortnight time. Coach won’t be able to count on injured Alex, Ozturk, Ricardo Costa, Deumeland and Vaqn Der Heyden,
Equal against the Bavarians
After an hour of play in Munich, Ivica Olic scored the first goal in the match and brought the lead to his side. Not long after that Ze Roberto scored an equaliser for Bayern and after that both teams seemed satisfied with sharing points so the match had a very boring finish. We should mention that both teams started the matches without their key players Ribery and Van Der Vaart that entered the pitch by the middle of the second half.
Coach Stevens will rest some of the players that played in a derby in Munich though captain Van Der Vaart will definitely play from the start. Hamburger are still competing on three battlefields: Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Cup but they have most chances precisely in home cup. Coach Stevens will again play with only one attacker, but this doesn’t mean that he will play defensive. Croatian international Ivica Olic will probably again be in the attack since he simply exploded after the international match where his side eliminated England from EURO 2008. Atouba, Castelen and Sorin are injured and won’t be able to help in the quarterfinals.
Betting Verdict
First match this season ended drawn level but this is not an option this time, because only one team will qualify for the semifinals. Last few matches of these rivals were mostly solved by a goal or two, but if we consider the current form of both clubs, this match will hardly end with a small number of goals. Wolfsburg have the home ground advantage as well as less games played in the last couple of weeks but Hamburger certainly won’t give up easily.
