Arsenal and Tottenham will start the great London derby with quite different ambitions. While Wenger will once again give the chance to reserves to keep them in shape and allow them to show what they can do before the final part of the season, this will be the last chance for Ramos and the Spurs to save this disappointing season.
Young guns back in action
Although you can hardly say for the first team of Arsenal that it is made of the experienced and well-known players, second team is made of only children that Wenger\'s scouting team found across Europe and Africa. Many of them already shown that Wenger can count on them in serious matches. Last season the Gunners managed to reach the finals with their reserve team and this year they will certainly want to improve last year’s score if possible. However many things don’t favour them this year. Firstly, African Cup of Nations, so Toure, Eboue and Song won’t be able to help Wenger in the next few weeks. Although they weren’t in plan for the match against the Spurs this automatically means that their substitutes will have less time to rest in Saturday’s match against Birmingham. Besides this one, another big problem for the Gunners will be the motivation of their rival in this match, so the big question is whether Wenger\'s young Lions can repeat the success from last year.
The last chance for Spurs
And while Arsenal consider Carling Cup an insignificant competition this year since they have high aspirations on three other battlefields, the Spurs consider these two matches of the semifinals the last chance to save the season. Even the replacement of Jol and bringing Ramos on head didn’t help much. The line-up remained the same and defense of Tottenham became the object of ridicule for the football fans across the planet. Many things will Ramos have to try and change already in this transfer window and it is certain that the Spurs will be the most active o the market. Still this is the future, and the only certain thing on Wednesday is that Tottenham won’t calculate and Ramos will field the best he has.
All hopes of the Spurs at this moment are pointed to the excellent Berbatov. Bulgarian is in excellent shape, but defense to will have to do their part of work against Arsenal if they want to protect their net. Ledley King is back in the team and the Spurs seem more confident with him and the fans are left only with the hopes that the team will finally start to play as a whole once he is back.
Time for revenge
This is an ideal opportunity for the Spurs to revenge. We must admit that arsenal lately had too much luck in city derbies. Precisely ion Carling Cup, last season they managed to level the 2:0 lead on halftime. About a month ago, Almunia managed to save the penalty of Kean and turn the match over in which Tottenham were a better rival. The Spurs simply haven\'t won in the last 18 matches whether they were at emirates, White Heart Lane or Highbury, and now it is \'to be or not to be\' for them.
Betting verdict
We believe that the Spurs can finally reach a positive score. Arsenal will certainly focus on the Premiership where they finally have chance for the title; they have a lot of raw players (Adebayor, Van Persie, Hleb) and several in African Cup of Nations. In such situation, no matter the quality of the second team of the Gunners, the Spurs can win, because objectively they were on the verge of winning the first team in a match much more important for Arsenal. Odds for Spurs to win arte even 3.50 (Gamebookers).
