Investments
Last season the Spurs have invested a lot in the team, the fans even expected the quest for the title and the season started and ended disastrously. However, they did take a trophy, but Carling Cup is the last on the wish list of any serious club so the only thing that will heal their wounds is the fact that their biggest rivals had no consolation whatsoever. By the middle of the season the management finally gave up on Martin Jol and brought the trainer who has some results in his resume. Ramos took Sevilla to the Champions league and two UEFA Cups, so the Spurs hope that he will make soothing out of their club as well in the years to come.
New squad
Over the last few years the Spurs have mostly based their play on excellent attackers who were capable of scoring a goal more than their rivals. The problem was that defense was usually capable of conceding another goal and the midfield was clueless and futile. Ramos seems resolute to change that, so Levy didn't spare money and instead of investing in the players he put his money on bringing fantastic Croat Luka Modric and English international David Bentley, as well as young Mexican Giovani Dos Santos who hasn't confirmed his potential in Barcelona. On the other hand the problem for the Spurs this year, besides already traditional pathetic defense, could be attack as well. Robbie Keane went to Liverpool, and Berbatov is hoping to move to Manchester United, so Ramos will probably go out on the market to get hold of David Villa. However, the current situation in the club is that he can count on Darren Bent, who cost a whole lot of money last year only to warm up the seat for Keane and Berbatov, as well as on discontented Bulgarian. Defense suffered some changes, but mostly because Ramos got rid of Chimbonda, Kaboul, Gardner and keeper Paul Robinson, without bringing replacements.

After the rain comes sun!
This saying will prove to be true in Spurs' case once, the only question is when. After millions invested in Bent, Bale, Chimbonda and others last year, the Spurs hoped that their failures have come to an end. Modric, Bentley and Dos Santos woke up the hope again, so if Ramos manages to fit them in on the pitch, and first, of all organize the defense to meet the level of one Premiership club, the results can be expected. Preparation games proved that the Spurs can do a lot. They won Celtic and Dortmund easily and humiliated Roma, so if they transfer that form to the start of the Premiership, the fans could enjoy a successful season. After huge investments, the success is fighting for the place in the Champions League where they could have a significant role this season.
