Reggina managed to survive
Honestly, we didn't believe that Calabresi can save themselves, especially not after the sad autumn when Mazzari's heir Ficcadenti paid for it all. President Foti hired experienced Ulivieri, but in spite of initial progress amaranti didn't increase their chances for survival. You got the impression that the club has made their peace with returning to Serie B, so a not so famous youth squad boss Orlandi took over the bench. He made a little miracle, Reggina started playing much better. The combination of good play at their Granillo and some unexpected points taken away saw them sailing towards the safe waters. They, themselves probably don't realise how it happened, but anyway, the aim was accomplished and Calabria will spend another season in Serie A. But they continue to make the same mistakes. Last summer they were at ease watching the trains go by, didn't bring a replacement for Bianchi so the autumn saw them in a situation where except for Amoruso they had no real attacker. They started buying in January, Brienza's arrival was crucial, as well as Orlandi's skill since the new coach got the best of the squad. Captain Cozza reminded of his best days so all of this affected Reggina's escape from the relegation zone, where they spent most of the season. But they were again careless during the summer, although they say that the transfer window isn't over yet, it is hard to believe that they can get any significant back-ups now, and what they did so far is no good.
Will Calabresi manage to replace Amoruso?
A striker whose goals brought survival in the last couple of seasons has, practically in the end of his career, decided to accept a generous offer from Torino, thus leaving Orlandi in front of a new challenge, to replace the first scorer of the club. Somewhat forgotten Corradi arrived at Granillo, who after a not so great experience in Premiership wasn't brilliant in Roma either. He certainly hasn't forgotten to play, but to expect him to score 15 goals in the season thus leading the team towards survival is too optimistic. As for the rest of the players we should mention Brazilian Santos who didn't get much chance in Genoa, but he is a fine player who will mean a lot in defence. The rest of the transfer window is not worth of mentioning. So, it will be the same team as last season; the strongest links are Brienza and Cozza but we shouldn't expect miracles from them. There are some announcements that Foti will open up and try signing more attackers but the targets are players like Pozzi, Pap Waigo and Paloschi which is unrealistic. All the parts of the team need at least one more experienced player and there are no such back-ups in sight. Reggina will probably start the Serie A battles with the current squad and try to reinforce it in January.

Our tip
Honestly, year after year, together with Lecce and possibly Cagliari, Reggina seem weakest in Serie A. But before we start predicting we should warn you that this happens every season and Calabresi somehow manage to survive. For several seasons they relied on Mazzari and it seemed that after his leaving to Samp, the club will not find the solution, however Orlandi appeared, who has earned a contract for this season. The problems are the same, Reggina play weak away and Corradi is not reliable as the only forward, he is prone to injuries and it seems that he will need time to get used to the squad that doesn't create many chances. A much bigger threat in the attack will be Cozza and Brienza, but the rivals know the advantages of Calabresi attack very well. Also, defence is not so good, they will miss Modesto and it seems that they don't have the solution for the left side. These are all dilemmas for the coach; he doesn't have starting eleven ready yet. Such squad will certainly see Reggina at the bottom till January; anyway, anything but struggling in the relegation battle would be a huge success for this team.
