Crazy gang
Plymouth ended last season at 10th, but this time they are one of the teams that bookies think as relegation strugglers. They had successful campaign last year. Paul Sturrock did excellent job with what he had. Don’t forget that every away game for them is much harder then for the others since they are pretty far away from all the teams in the league (more then 200km to the nearest Southampton for example). One of the craziest bunches of fans in the league is hoping that Plymouth can build on last season campaign. Since the Millennium they are finishing higher every year, so it would not be a surprise to see them beating the odds again.
Season of low expectations
The main problem for Argyle this year will be the fact that they lost a couple of key players from the last season campaign. Peter Halmosi joined Hull and Nalis joined Swindon, while the goalkeeper, Luke McCormick contract have been cancelled. Sturrock found new goalie in former Arsenal and Reading keeper Graham Stack. Also, he signed Walton for the club record fee. Walton had solid season on loan with Hull last year and Sturrock is hoping that he is capable to regain form that he had before the injury 2 years ago. Great signing is also a midfielder Duguid, who had 14 seasons with Colchester and has enough experience to help right away, while ex-Barnet winger Puncheon could be a real deal after reaching League Two team of the year in a season behind.
In
Karl Duguid (Colchester), Simon Walton (QPR), Jason Puncheon (Barnet), David McNamee (Coventry), Graham Stack (Reading) and Yala Bolasie (Fliorana)
Out
Peter Halmosi (Hull), Lilian Nalis (Swindon)
Out of relegation zone
We would not agree with bookies around this one. Plymouth is not one of the candidates for relegation, at least if we should trust our instincts. With signigns made during the summer they will maybe have difficult start, but after team get together with their new midfield Plymouth should be able to earn mid table position. Maybe they won’t be better then in the last couple of years, but they should be able to reach somewhere between 15th and 20th.
