Forest in excellent finish
Former Scottish international Colin Calderwood did excellent job with Forest last year. After lot of financial problems, club managed to consolidate and with series of excellent results in the finish to earn second position in League One and direct promotion. One of the big names in European football couple of decades ago was even out of Championship for the last 4 years. One month before the end of the season it looked like play-off will be too big task, but former European Champions managed to make big success and earn even direct promotion.
Excellent job during the summer
After big success, Forest board decided to invest and they signed a couple of excellent players for this level of competition. Andy Cole, former Manchester United star and Sunderland player last year decided to come back to his home town to help his team. They also signed Robert Earnshaw from Derbz and Guy Moussi (Angers, France). Probably the most important signing and real deal could prove to be Lee Martin, Manchester United kid who shined during the preseason for Red Devils, scoring a couple of goals and playing pretty well. He has some Championship experience, but was limited with injuries in last few campaigns and this season could be the breakout one for him. United winger came on loan, but could be even a permanent signing since it is hard to expect that he will be able to earn a United shirt next year. Striker Agogo left to Egypt, and Commons (Derby) and Clingan (Norwich) are the only other two important players that left the club during the summer.
In
Robert Earnshaw (Derby County), Guy Moussi (Angers), Andrew Cole (Sunderland), Lee Martin (Manchester United loan)
Out
Junior Agogo (El Zamalek, Egipat), Kris Commons (Derby County), Alan Power (Hartlepool United), Matt Lockwood (Colchester United), Sammy Clingan (Norwich City), Grant Holt (Shrewsbury Town)
Fans should not be worried of relegation threats
Of course, it would be too much to expect from Forest to enter play-off battle. They are stronger then last year, but they will need a season to adapt to Championship after years of exile. They are not in the list of the teams that should be worried as well, so midtable should be achievable and realistic goal for Calderwood and his lads in the season ahead.
