The great seaon
Mallorca had a very good chance last year to climb higher than they did in the end, but the players woke up late and couldn't make up for what they missed. They almost qualified for Europe, but an incredible two-moth drawing run during January and February stopped them. At one moment Mallorca joined the relegation battle, although this is the best squad they had in years. Too bad for the club that is starting the new season from scratch with a completely new squad and old coach.
Many news on the island
Mallorca are one of the few teams that had a dynamic summer when it comes to transfers. If you have in mind the names that left Ono Estadio, we get the impression that red-black will have a lot of problems this year. This conclusion is not groundless for the main pillars of the club left, Ariel Ibagaza moved to Villarreal, Spanish championship’s top scorer Dani Guiza will be playing Turkish Fenerbahce, David Navarro moved to Valencia and his namesake Fernando Navarro decided to go further south choosing Sevilla to be his new club. This is not the end of the list of former players, which also includes Jonas and Hector who is the only one who didn't spend much time on the pitch last season. Coach Gregorio Manzano will have a lot of work to do in switching the roles in the team which is why he brought the same number of players, seven even, four of who have excellent potential and quality. These are two talented players from Atletico Madrid, Jurado and Suarez who will definitely explode under Manzano’s directions and finally show their football skills, and then excellent Josemi came from Villarreal and Keita from Arabian Al-Ittihad. The rest of the new players are Oscar Diaz who moved from the second-league club Elche and two Racing reserves, Ayoze and Felpeto. Knowing Gregorio Manzano and his traditional discovering of new talents each season, it would be no wonder if one of these young players successfully replaces the former stars of the team.

Mallorca are still uncertain
It is hard to predict the realistic place for the Balearic club, at the moment. New players have the quality, coach is the same but all the players that left meant a lot for team’s play. They were the bearers of the play, so everything depends on how the rookies will adapt to the new climate. We shouldn’t disregard the quality of the players who stayed in the club. First of all, there are excellent strikers Juan Arango and Webo, then Lionel Scaloni who came last summer from Lazio, Fernando Varela, Ramis and Nunes. Greek Bassinas was speculated to leave the club definitely this summer, but he is still on the team roster for the next year. His experience will mean a lot in the midfield. Mallorca will definitely be a competitive team this year that will give a hard time to many favourites. Their quality is more or less the same like Betis, Espanyol and Osasuna and it is only realistic to see them fight for the midtable, though it wouldn't be a surprise if they achieved more.
