Financial problems
Coventry had lot of problems with finances last year, and they had to sell the best players during the season to survive. When they have been close to the dead end, businessman Ray Ranson showed up. He finished takeover process at the end of the last season and therefore it was very important to avoid relegation. After string of bad results Ian Dowie has been fired, and ex-Real Sociedad coach and former Fulham manager, talented Chris Coleman took the charge. He had problems with the squad he inherited, but managed to stay above the line. He did that literary in last 90 minutes of the season, but it counts the same.
New season – new situation
New season should be completely different. Resources are available, manager did solid job at the transfer market by adding Fredy Eastwood (Wolves) and Clinton Morrison (Crystal Palace) and fans are expecting a lot from the new team. With new additions, attacking line is better part of the team. Key player, youngster Leon Best signed for new contract, while Island international Aron Gunnerson (AZ Alkmaar) and French midfielder Beuzelin (Hibs) will certainly help Coleman to achieve ambitions. Mifsud is also still in the team, even there were roumors that he could leave. Goalkeeper problems have been solved by signing ex-Carlisle goalie Westwood. Coleman also decided to take back Kevin Koyle from loan at Wolves and he has all the reasons to be happy with his clubs summer activity.

The Sky Blues could be surprise of the season
Teams like Derby County (2006/07) and Hull City (2007/08) proved that stable organization of the club, good selection of the players and excellent manager skills can be enough for promotion, even against the odds. Those two, if should be judged by odds, should be candidates for relegation more then for promotion, but at the end of the yeas their fans had all the reasons to celebrate. Coventry City can easily be that team this year. They are not bookies favorites, but with Coleman as excellent tactician, more then solid squad and without financial problems, they can be a surprise package. Ricoh Arena will be full of happy fans again.
