Chievo with the most attractive football in Serie B

It isn’t often to see a team in Italy win by offense. Chievo were the ones to set some new standards last season. Led by the new coach, Iachini, who has already proved his worth in Piacence, club from Verona gained many fans, taught some lessons, and made an express comeback, and all thanks to their attacking style. They kept the team despite the relegation, boosted the squad with some experienced players and it all resulted in excellent performances in the second part of the league. When the team got used to 4-3-3 formation, the excellent run of 19 unbeaten games had started, and that is when the decisive breach towards the top had been made. They were the top scorers in the league, of course, and leveled the club’s record for away wins. Despite all of these great things they are still called the orphans of the city of Verona. Former champs, Verona, now laying in the third league, are still town’s favorites, which all affect both investments and the gates at Bentegodi. None the less, the Flying Donkeys are once again in Serie A and that is all that matters. The only ambition will be to avoid relegation, although the lack of funds narrowed the choices in the transfer window. The impression is that Chievo didn’t boost the squad, although the team is the same, this is the top league and it is more demanding.

Despite the tumult, Iachini still at helm

It appeared that club will not continue to work with one of the most talented managers of the new generation. They have found the solution eventually, but it is clear they don’t have money for some significant signings. Goalie, Sorrentino, who came back after his Greek and Spanish campaign, was brought to the club. This is one solid keeper, which is the case with almost all of them in Serie A, so Veronese can’t lay much hope in him alone. None of the other arrivals like Romanian, Patrascu, or Scardina, returnee, D’Anna or Frey, is of enough quality to be guaranteed a place in the starting line up, so pundits believe Chievo will start the season with the same team from Serie B. this could be a problem since it has already happened last year that the team loses its way when someone like Luciano, Marcolini, Pellisieri gets injured. This will be a long season, Chievo don’t have enough players for the campaign. They lack the alternatives in the middle, Iachini feels that wing defender are not a real Serie A material, so we should expect the team invests a lot more effort to bring a couple of more players till the end of month. They have a lot to worry about with this squad. Unlike Catania, Bologna, Reggina or Cagliari, Chievo are not capable of putting enough home pressure and it could be very important and significant. It will be very interesting to see iachini’s attacking approach working in Serie A…we are skeptics, but the manager Chas the last season behind him.

Each line in the team lacks one experienced player. The striker would also do well for the squad, but it is hard to find a good but cheap player that will fit right in the 4-3-3 formation. Rumors are Chievo want Di Vaio, but we are not quite sure they can afford him. Granoche, Triestina’s bomber, was also being mentioned for a while, but he isn’t cheap also…some half-solutions remain, but it is evident that Veronese aren’t capable of improving the squad with the existing funds and that they will have to settle for what they already have. Iachini might pull out the best out of his team, might save his players by rotations, but he is without enough players to do it properly. This club seemed like a strong collective in the past, replacing the lack of big names with team spirit, but it is something unreliable for each season. We risk making a rough mistake here, but, if they don’t bring some more players until the end of August, Chievo will be one of the biggest relegation candidates. It is simple, with the squad from Serie B, without enough money, with couple of inexperienced defenders, they can hardly hope for good season. To be completely honest with you, with Lecce and maybe Cagliari, Chievo may be the weakest team in the league.
