The Blue Birds generation for history books
Cardiff City had a season for history books. They had excellent results in the league and excellent string in January, but with terrible finish they ended at 12th place out of play-off battle. Still, reason for this justified the league results. Excellent FA Cup campaign by manager Jones and his lads made a history and earn them a chance to fight for trophy at New Wembley. They lost in the final by 1:0 against Portsmouth and lost their chance for UEFA Cup.
Excellent squad
During the summer, Cardiff City sold their talented youngsters again. This time, Aaron Ramsey has been sold to Arsenal, while Dutch international Glen Loovens signed for Celtic. Also, Cardiff decided to break apart from former Premier League legends Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Robby Fowler and Trevor Sinclair and start new campaign without them. The biggest win for City this summer is the fact that they found the way to keep talented Joe Ledley with the club. Also, they added England U21 goalkeeper Tom Heaton on loan from Manchester United, as well as Dennehy from Everton and McCormack from Motherwell. But key signings are Eddie Johnson, US international from Fulham and experienced ex-Wolves forward Jay Bothroyd.

Hit of the season
Manager Dave Jones will have at his disposal squad with similar quality like last year. With one-year older Ledley and with season more at the bench of the most famous Welsh club, Dave Jones would not surprise anyone if he achieves something big. His team is the play-off candidate. Squad is full of solid players at every position, with lot of experience, but also a few talents that can shine and if they focus themselves on the league competition they can achieve big things. Also, they are traditionally good at the start of the campaign.
