Oscilations
One of the most favourite Spanish clubs, popular Frogs had huge oscillations in their play last year. Constant, unexpected switching from winning to losing series saw Betis fight to survive till the very end. A very weak start of the championship was compensated with the surprisingly excellent run by the end of December, only for the team to start losing, when everyone expected them to rise. The fortunate circumstance was that April was very favourable for them, so the team entered the finish with a fine tally.
Few new names
Not many new players arrived at Manuel Luiz de Lopera, and the most famous name is Brazilian-born Turkish international, Mehmet Aurelio. Four of the players have decided to trust their destiny with other clubs. These are Doblas, Contreras, Somoza i Fernando. The most important thing is that key players like Arzu, Rivera, Capio, Juanito, Xisco, Sobis, Pavone and Edu stayed in Sevilla. Last year's rescuer, Francisco Chaparro will still be on the bench. The club have done all to inspire their fans and make sure that their stands with the capacity for 51 000 people are full to the last place. Total number was even 39 437 and the average attendance last year was only 33 000. More members than average attendance speaks enough of fans' satisfaction with the play in the last season.

Fighting for Europe
Last two seasons were dubious for Betis and with a lot of oscillations. The potential of the team is much higher that the results, so this season is crucial for the final rate of the project initiated four years ago that started with winning the cup and a fifth place in season 2004/2005. Betis' biggest problem was the balance between attacking concept of the play, players' profile and defending their net. If they manage to solve that problem, Betis can, together with Espanyol, be one of the serious contenders for the top 7 or 8.
