Knockout phase - at least
Czech will fight for the next round, the group is equal and Portugal's play in the qualifications didn't give us reasons to believe that they could be absolute favourites in group A. Bruckner's side has more experience than Turkey and Swiss, used to the pressure of big competitions and if the start well they could easily advance to the next round where anything can happen.
Injury of Rosicky is a huge blow
Huge blow for their plans is Rosicki's injury but if Nedved changes his mind and comes back, their chances will improve. In tournament competitions, especially when you get to the knock-out stage, good defense is the base of everything; the Czech have this advantage over their rivals, not only because of Ceh but because of the back line that is very tough and well trained. We don't believe that Czech side boss will give up his favourite 4-4-2 formation which means that two experienced keepers Koller and Baros are first choice. Super talented Martin Fenin will wait for his chance. He plays in Bundesliga at the moment and he was impressive on U21 World Cup.
All positions covered
The Czech covered all the positions; their system is not disturbed when someone gets injured or suspended. The schedule favours them because they will first play with co-hosts Switzerland that will have the crowd on their side but they are not an elite side in this competition. If they remain unbeaten against Portugal, also they will have a clear situation in the last match against the Turks. Czech Republic can do a lot, since they are practically among top five or six European sides at the moment so we believe that they will get to the knock-out stage.
