Surprise?
Switzerland are definitely a better side than the other EURO co-hosts, Austria. Kuhn's side is in tough group A, but if you add the indisputable quality and the experience gained over the last two years to the squad's optimism and full stands, it is clear that they do stand some chance.
Discipline as the strength
First of all, because Switzerland are a combative squad, with a tactical discipline and they rarely concede. There were some injury problems but as the EURO is approaching Kuhn is slowly completing his squad. Much depends on Frei's form and inspiration since coach had an obvious efficiency problem while Frei was injured. We have already mentioned that defense is the key part of the squad; good news come from France: it seems that experienced Muller recovered. The midfield is excellent with a lot of young players using their chance and Kuhn wasn't afraid to give up the services of almost irreplaceable players like Vogel.
Problems in the attacking line
If he solves the attacking problem, which is not impossible since the midfield has several excellent strikers, Switzerland will have a chance in group A. However, Portugal, and Czech Republic are definitely the favourites for the next round but hosts will wait for their chance. They will play the first game against the Czech, second against Portugal and if they remain unbeaten on the start anything can happen.
